Galentine's Day 2026 Special

Valentine's Day has long been a holiday for a date with your romantic partner. But more recently, you may have started to hear about the craze for celebrating Galentines Day. A girls day out, drinks/dinner, or activity to spend time with your best girls like shopping or a spa day. I have loved this idea since I first heard about it and have been wanting to toss out a Galentine's Day Special to my clients for the last few years. So here it is... ladies, get your friends gathered! You won't want to miss out on this!

Today I photographed a group of friends.

The girls you see below have been friends since school—some of them since kindergarten. These days, they get together to share stories about their own children graduating high school, and they laugh while swapping notes on how their bodies are changing together—yet again—in their 40s. They’re a group of friends who have walked through every stage of life side by side: childhood, puberty, college, marriage, the birth of children, infertility, divorce, and now menopause. When you put five women together, you truly touch on every aspect of womanhood.

As I photographed them and listened to stories of the ’80s and ’90s—alongside conversations about very real fears like breast cancer—I couldn’t help but feel some Firefly Lane vibes floating around. And it made me smile and think... Oh, something else happened here.

What started as a group of girls committing to an afternoon of having their photos taken in matching outfits, simply as a favor to me so I could test out my Galentine’s shoot theory, quickly turned into something more. Memories were shared. Gynecologist names were swapped. And what began as “just photos in our jeans and t-shirts” evolved into everyone feeling confident enough to try on the pinkest, poofiest dress in my studio closet—right around the time the second bottle of champagne was topped off.

Before we wrapped up, I photographed each of them individually. These strong women are professionals, ranging from the medical field to education, and they each deserved an updated portrait for their professional profiles. As the shoot wound down and hugs were exchanged, I felt such warmth over what had really happened that day. A group of women, already as close as sisters, bonded even deeper through portraits taken together.

They walked away with more than just memories. They now have photos to hold onto forever from a simple afternoon hanging out in jeans, just being themselves.

As a fun added bonus, the photo shoot sparked these friends to all collectively dig out their old photo albums from the 90's. Reminiscing on prom, vacations and senior week. I couldn't resist stealing a handful to add to this blog - what a beautiful long friendship still going strong!
