Rachel & Kyle’s Romantic Wedding at Mansions on Fifth, Pittsburgh

When Rachel and Kyle reached out to me a year ago to share the news that they had booked Mansions on Fifth in Pittsburgh for their wedding, I could instantly feel their excitement—and I completely understood why. This venue has such a special place in my heart, and hearing the joy in their voices brought an immediate smile to mine. I was especially thrilled because I had photographed Kyle’s sister’s wedding a few years back—while I was pregnant, no less! Being invited back into their lives for another milestone moment was very special, It’s one of the many reasons I love what I do.

And then, of course, there’s the venue itself—a timeless gem nestled in the heart of Pittsburgh’s historic Shadyside neighborhood.

Built in the early 1900s during the city’s Gilded Age, Mansions on Fifth is the epitome of romantic, old-world charm. Originally the private home of Willis McCook, a prominent Pittsburgh lawyer and industrialist, this mansion-turned-boutique-hotel offers an elegant blend of rich history, ornate architecture, and modern luxury. Its grand staircases, stained glass windows, and warm wood paneling transport you to another era—one filled with candlelit dinners, handwritten love letters, and whispered vows under twinkling chandeliers.

From the moment Rachel slipped into her gown in one of the mansion’s luminous bridal suites, the day unfolded like a fairy tale. The rooms are filled with natural light and vintage details, making them a dream to photograph—and a calming, luxurious place to prepare for one of life’s most unforgettable moments.

Every part of the day was infused with warmth, laughter, and deep connection—from their emotional first look in the mansion's private chapel upstairs to the intimate ceremony and dinner reception throughout all of the rooms the mansions has to offer. The grounds themselves, with quiet elegance, made for a breathtaking backdrop as the sun dipped below the horizon. And of course, no wedding at Mansions on Fifth is complete without capturing a few final portraits beneath its glowing lights outside—each image echoing the timeless beauty of the venue itself.

What I love most about photographing weddings here is that every frame feels like it could belong in a classic romance film. It’s a place where love stories don’t just happen—they’re woven into the very fabric of the space.
