Karis and Jerry told me that one of the most important parts of the day to capture were the natural moments of their wedding, the people attending, and their ceremony. Having family attending from the other side of the globe, and so many close family & friends in the same building at the same time was so important to them. I also wanted to capture the essence of the gorgeous historic mansion, and help them to remember every detail through the photographs when looking back on these images for years to come. When I arrived, we all marveled at the gorgeous day they were granted. The sun shining, blue skies, and soft breeze were a perfect combo for the summer day every bride dreams of. As they each got ready at the venue upstairs in their respective rooms, they were buzzing with excitement but hardly showed any nerves. They were so excited to see each other for the first time on this lovely, special day of theirs. We guided them to the first look location, and they finally got to have their first moments together. Soon after, we left for the Carnegie Mellon Institute to photograph them at the columns, and returned to the Mansion before guests began to arrive. The two of them escaped to have private vows in the small chapel upstairs, and we prepared for their intimate ceremony on the staircase. Their ceremony was unique in that they had a Chinese translator for the entire ceremony so that Jerry's family from China would be included in every way possible. The vows were sweet and simple, and a family member officiated the ceremony. Their dinner party reception began immediately and we photographed the event into the night as the band played and a few special dances were shared. A live painter was present which was an amazing process see coming to life, and there were Chinese cookies added to the traditional Pittsburgh Cookie Table! The wedding was a beautiful representation of their relationship in every way. Congratulations to Karis and Jerry, and thank you for having us photograph such a special day for you. It was an honor to be trusted with that responsibility.
All our best to you! ~Autumn and the SkySight Photography team
