PREPARE FOR YOUR SESSION

 

Before your session, please email me to confirm your date/time/location, as well as first names of everyone who will be included in your photos, and your cell # to reach you on the day of the shoot. 

 

 

BEFORE YOUR SESSION: Do you require makeup or other pre-session services? SkySight has trusted partners who we recommend for all of our makeup and prep needs!

AFTER YOUR SESSION: We've worked with many local restaurants in our year. If you're looking for lunch after your session, we recommend Sundawg Cafe here in Greensburg. If you're looking for dinner, El Diablo is one of our favorites!
 

WHAT TO WEAR: A wide variety of clothing colors can be worn for your session, we suggest color coordination but not 100% too matchy matchy in the same colors.  There is an entire rainbow of possibilities, if you are unsure of what to wear feel free to call me for a consult to discuss.  If your session is outdoor please text or email me back with the colors you plan to wear so I can coordinate if bringing props along for your session. Not necessary if your session is in studio to let me know in advance.

 

WEATHER: I will reach out to you if we need to reschedule outdoor sessions due to weather, I will not make this call before morning on the day of your session, unless the forecast the day prior is over 75% chance of rain. If 50% or less chance, we will wait until the day of your session.

 

PRICE FOR YOUR SESSION:  Your package total will be due at your session, if you are not aware of the price please ask in advance of the shoot. All of our pricing can be found online.

BEFORE YOUR SESSIONS

To help your session run as smoothly as possible, please review the following information before your scheduled date.

Arrival & Communication

  • If your session is at the studio or at Winnie Palmer, please familiarize yourself with the location and available parking before your appointment. A map can be sent to you before hand if you need it, please just ask. 

  • Please stay in contact with me on the day of your session so we can confirm weather conditions, parking availability, and any last-minute updates. Best way to do this is via text to my cell 724-889-3326, as I might be at other sessions prior to yours. 

Outdoor Sessions

Outdoor sessions are beautiful, but they are also subject to the elements.

  • I recommend applying bug spray before your session if we will be in grassy or wooded areas. While I do my best to choose safe locations, I cannot be held responsible for tick exposure or insect bites. I suggest Off Clean Feel with Picaridin! It works as good as deet! 

  • On very hot days, please keep in mind that heat and humidity can cause hair to frizz or lose its style. Excessive sweating and strong winds may also affect the final look of your images. Extensive retouching of flyaways or weather-related issues may require an additional editing fee. 

  • If temperatures are expected to exceed 90°F or fall below 40°F, I am happy to discuss rescheduling or moving your session indoors if an indoor location is available. This is not automatic, so please reach out if you would like to explore those options.

  • During colder weather, cheeks and noses may become noticeably red. While minor color correction is included, weather-related changes cannot always be completely eliminated.

 

Pets Added to Family Sessions

  • If bringing a pet, please inquire with me if this location allows them first. 

  • And second, I require you to bring an assistant (friend/family/helper) to take the dog when we are not needing them in the photos. 

  • Also keep in mind that pets do take away from the overall quality of smiles and posing if you have small children. It is not always possible to have the dog looking at me, get their attention with a squeaker, and also make the children smile at the same time. This does require more than 1 person (not just the photographer). 

Outfit Changes

If you plan to wear multiple outfits, please note that restroom access is not guaranteed at outdoor locations. There is one at Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve, but not at some locations such as downtown Pittsburgh. 

  • Most clients change in their vehicle.

  • You are also welcome to bring a large sheet, changing poncho, or similar cover if you would prefer additional privacy.

  • Feel free to inquire about other ways to change clothing easily and privately, based on the location you pick. 

Sessions with Children

To help us capture genuine smiles and keep your child engaged:

  • Please allow me to direct your child's attention throughout the session. Family members and friends should look toward the camera and smile rather than trying to get the child's attention, as children naturally look toward whoever is interacting with them.

  • Please do not use phones, tablets, or other screens during the session to encourage smiles. While they may capture a child's attention temporarily, they often make it difficult to maintain natural expressions and eye contact with the camera. As soon as you pull it away, they often get more mad that it is gone rather than the initial idea which was to make them smile/happy. 

Downtown Pittsburgh Sessions

Downtown sessions can create stunning images, but they also come with unique considerations.

  • Due to the nature of photographing in Downtown Pittsburgh, certain locations can present safety concerns for both clients and photography equipment. In some situations, an assistant may be required to help ensure a safe and efficient session. An additional assistant fee may apply. This person would be to help watch purses and bags, and things like phones while we are taking photos. If you would like to provide this assistant please let me know, as this can be very helpful. 

  • Major sporting events and other large events can bring heavy traffic, crowded streets, road closures, and limited parking throughout the city, which may make getting to and around your session location more difficult.

  • Please be aware that downtown environments are unpredictable. Crowds, street noise, unwanted comments from passersby, and people taking photos or videos are all possibilities.

  • For your safety, personal belongings should be kept to a minimum, as there may not be secure places to set items down during the session.

  • Bridge photos are never guaranteed. Conditions such as traffic, crowds, weather, or safety concerns may make them unavailable. If bridge portraits are requested, a liability waiver must be signed before the session.

Parking: There are 2 options for parking... you'll want to enter at the top of the reserve and park by the big red barn. The road you will be entering on is right across the street from the Dairy Queen in Latrobe. If you enter Latrobe's Dairy Queen on GPS, it may be easier to find this entrance. Below is a map to easier understand where you need to park.

Bushy Run Battlefield

Studio 

Address: 409 Coulter Ave, Greensburg, PA 15601

Parking/Entrance:   Use the GPS to this address which will take you to the front of our building. We use the side door entrance however, so just pull around to the side of the building (arrive GPS location and building will be on left, just turn left on to Elm to go down the side of the building) and you can park for free on the street or in our parking lot which is adjacent to our building on that Elm St side. Enter to our section of the building through the side door entrance right by that parking lot (you'll also see a tiny playground adjacent to the parking lot, our door is directly across the street), down a deck-type walkway and ring the bell for entry if the door is locked. Visit our studio page here! https://www.skysightphotography.com/the-studio
 

Things to Remember: -Always start getting ready at least 2-3 hours early, you never know how long it may take you to get ready for a shoot

- Bring extra outfits even if you plan on wearing only 1... something could happen to your first choice

- Make sure to be on time as there are other clients that may have sessions on the same day

- If you had certain props in mind to use for the shoot like balloons or a cake smash, let me know at least one week prior so I can get that ready for you
